BISWANATH: In a tragic accident, a youth died in the Biswanath region of the state while cleaning a well.

According to local people, five people were engaged in cleaning the well of one Shibu Giri, who is a resident of the Goliya village of Biswanth. Out of the group, Sukleshwar and Sanjeeb Khariya had entered the well. But the water pressure was more than expected and both the youth were about to drown in the water of the well.

The local people panicked because of the same and informed the fire and emergency services regarding the incident. Trained experts arrived on the spot and were able to rescue Sukleswar from the well but not Sanjeeb. Sukleshwar was immediately shifted to the Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital.

A team from the State Disaster Response Force was also called into the location to recover the dead body of the victim from the well. Although the incident triggered panic among the residents among the local people, the police managed to bring the situation under control.

The exact reason for the incident has not been known, but some people alleged the lack of security forces in the incident.

Local people of the region found a dead body floating on the Doigrung River in the Numaligarh region of the state. The local people informed the police. The dead body was later found to be Dilip Urang who belonged to the Kathoni Tea Garden of the region. The local people mentioned that the victim had gone missing from the locality two days ago. The family members were also informed about the recovery of the dead body.

Local police took custody of the dead body and sent the same for post-mortem procedures. The reasons for the death are not known yet and an investigation has been initiated regarding the same.
